Hi, I’m Erin.

I’m proud to now be the VP of Marketing at Spring, amplifying the stories of purpose-driven founders and investors to create positive change.

I’m a media professional fuelled by impact. Passionate about the power of storytelling, I draw from my experience as a documentarian, journalist, creative writer, podcaster, emcee, interactive website producer and social entrepreneur to create compelling marketing strategies and brand experiences to inspire meaningful action. I hold a degree in Creative Writing and Film Studies with Distinction from the University of Victoria, with writing credits running the spectrum of TV documentary (yes, those have writers!), non-fiction magazines and more. I’m currently querying my social justice romcom fiction manuscript UNDERCOVER IN AISLE 4, which will hopefully be my debut novel.

Empathy, curiousity, equity, inclusion, humour, social impact and creating joy are core to my values. Whether I was producing TV documentaries, hosting an award show, creating a podcast or building an award-winning mental health startup, I love bringing people together to do good and have fun doing it.

While my professional plate is might full right now, I am still seeking speaking/hosting opportunities so reach out if you have an event needing my voice!

Sue Voigt, VP of People & Culture, Accent Inns/Hotel ZED/ROAR

  • "Erin's collaborative style puts every subject at ease — whether it is a person she’s interviewing on-camera, or me, trying to articulate what I want our next article to be about. She makes others around her shine with her big-hearted kindness and hilarious wit. And somehow, she does it all while maintaining a no-nonsense, goal-focused air. I can’t imagine anyone else projecting our voices the way she does."

Crystal Henrickson, Leadership & Executive Coach, Talent Collective

  • "Erin brings ideas to the table and brings life to those ideas on the page. Her writing is astute, informed and articulate, striking an artful balance between playful and earnest. She knows how to tell a story, digging into the details to compel and inform the reader. "

Carla Sorrell, Former Editor, Douglas Magazine

  • "Erin is an absolute pleasure to work with. She has the ability to approach DEI from a fun yet informative lens that makes you want to learn more without feeling overwhelmed by the weight of the content. Erin is very approachable and allows for a non-judgmental space to ask those tough questions and dig into the tough topics. I can absolutely recommend Erin as someone to partner with."

Taylor Doherty, Learning & Development Manager, Accent Inns/Hotel ZED/ROAR

  • "Erin is that rare, indomitable combination of a presence that lights up the stage, a mind that is courageously irreverent to status quo stupidity, and the heart of a professional that will not let you down."

Ian Chisholm, Partner, The Roy Group

  • "Erin Skillen took the reigns for the second year in a row as host for the [VIATEC Awards], bringing the perfect balance of humour, intelligence and attitude."
